Make 2020 Your Best Year Yet
At this time of year, many people are starting to think about New Year Resolutions. I’m not. While they may be motivating for some people for the rest of us they set us up for failure. The pressure to stick to something just because others are doing well with whatever their goals are is too much and quite frankly, that’s just not for me. Instead, I like to look back at 2019 and decide what I can do to build on it. This is how you could make 2020 your best year yet.
2020: More Eco-Friendly and Ethical Shopping Opportunities
When speaking to customers a common theme is coming across when it comes to 2020. Unsurprisingly people are telling me that they are determined to do their very best to ditch the single-use plastic and altogether live more eco-friendly lives. This is something I actively promote in the shop with the refillable laundry liquid, shampoo, conditioner and more. I also look to offer wellbeing items and help people live a more wholesome life by offering products that help with that. Little steps.
For me 2020 will also be about striving to do more for the community (I’m a drop-off point for a fab homeless support organisation but would like to do more), enjoying new family adventures and helping customers to meet their eco-friendly, ethical gift-buying and wholesome living goals.
Continuing to Promote and Champion Small Businesses
Since opening Kristina’s I’ve had the good fortune to meet some amazing small business owners, crafters, service providers and others who all offer something unique. The business community here in Thirsk is hugely supportive and one I feel very proud to be part of. In 2020 I will continue to shop local, shop small, encourage customers, friends and families to visit our fab local businesses and hope to expand what I offer in-store. My plan is to showcase even more items from independent makers for my customers to choose from.
There are many great social media posts about supporting small businesses and they get lots of likes. You absolutely need to check out
https://www.justacard.org/ they are great champions for shopping local and supporting small makers/business. As a small business owner, I wanted to tell you that it’s all true, we do punch the air or do a little jig when people come and buy something from us. It’s not pretty but it’s true.
One Final Note…
I really want to take this opportunity to say a big THANK YOU to all of my wonderful customers, both online and of course in the shop. Thirsk is such a wonderful place to live and I consider myself lucky every time someone takes the time to visit me and support my small business. All that is left to do is wish you all a wonderful Christmas and restful New Year.
