📦 Our Packaging 📦

Hi, how are you? I hope 2019 is off to a good start for you all.

In this blog post I wanted to chat a little about the packaging we use in our business, what we use, why we use it and to show you we do try our very best to reduce waste and not add to a growing problem. We are always open to new ideas and are happy for comments or feed back, if there is something you think we can do better let us know, we ❤️our planet and want to do as much as we can to keep it wonderful. 🌍We are putting ourselves out there by writing this and are sure there will be criticism for some of our practices but we just wanted to be open about what we do.

If you have been in the shop you will have seen our tissue, bags and our little box of bubble wrap. Let me tell you a little about them.

We choose to use paper bags back in 2015 (when we fist opened) and have continued along that route ever since. They are reusable, recyclable (once they have worn out) and look amazing. The reality is our bags help grow our brand and small businesses need all the help they can get as the high street is in a difficult time. (I wont go into that) People see a bag with a logo on around the town and it can remind them to pop in or help them seek us out. We do encourage our customers to use their own bags, we even have reusable - organic cotton, Fairtrade jute bags etc for sale but are happy to supply a paper bag if needed knowing they are fully reusable and recyclable. #tryingourbest Our tissue paper is also recyclable once finished with, we try and use this instead of bubble wrap when wrapping in the shop as it is kinder to the environment.

When wrapping an internet order thats a little more tricky. We have to use more packaging to help make sure the products arrive safely especially our rainbow ceramics, so we use bubble wrap. We have NEVER bought a single piece of bubble wrap since we opened our doors and hope we never have to.(Although if we do there are now biodegradable options available) We save ever scrap of bubble wrap and those little white things that get sent to us as packing from our suppliers. We then re use it in the parcels we send out and packing in the shop should it need it, so if you get a piece of bubble wrap in your parcel please know we are trying our very best and reusing materials rather than buying and adding to the plastic and waste problem.

We also re use boxes for parcels too, we flat pack them to store then cut, fold and tape them back together to make the shape we need. This can mean your parcel looks a little odd but again we would rather the packing looked a little rough around the edges knowing we are reusing as much of the materials sent to us as possible.

So there you have it, a  little bit about the packaging in our shop how what and why we use it. Don't get us wrong the time may come when we do have to start buying in packaging materials but we will do everything we can to make the right choices.

If you have any feed back get in touch but please be kind we are just normal people trying to make a difference  😊
